Maui Alpaca is an eight-acre farm located Upcountry with alpacas and angora bunnies. This farm offers daily farm visits and picnic lunches, giving visitors the chance to meet the animals and feed the alpacas. Farm visits are ideal for kids— the animals are mellow, and they enjoy making new friends. Plus, tours run just one hour, leaving little time for kids to get restless. Reservations are required!

Trampoline Park
Kahului (808) 214-JUMP
Most people don’t think about indoor activities when visiting the outdoor paradise we call home. But there are plenty of times where it makes more sense than being out. Conveniently located in Kahului, you can stop for an hour or 2 when the mid-day summer heat index is scorching and enjoy their massive helicopter fans while the kids go nuts! Another great time to visit is when it’s raining. Why ruin a day in your hotel room when you can get some energy out and have a blast. But really, anytime is a good time to jump into the foam pits, play basketball like a superstar, and team up in dodgeball.
Ultimate Air Trampoline Park
Leilani Farm Sanctuary
Haiku (808) 298-8544
From the moment your kids step out of the car, they’re immersed in a world of rescued animals eager for affection. They’ll have the chance to gently pet bunnies, feed guinea pigs, brush goats, and even cuddle with chickens. The interactive nature of the tour keeps kids engaged, while the sanctuary’s peaceful setting offers a break from the usual tourist hustle. Beyond the fun, visiting the sanctuary is an educational opportunity, teaching children about kindness, compassion, and the importance of caring for animals. Whether it’s a wide-eyed toddler giggling at a playful goat or an older child learning about rescue efforts, the experience fosters lasting memories and a newfound respect for the natural world.

Surf lessons in West Maui (808) 442-6436
These surf lessons are ideal for keiki because they are private, personalized, and taught in calm waves ideal for beginners. Instructors work individually or in small family groups, allowing younger surfers to receive undivided attention and plenty of encouragement, helping them develop confidence in the water. Safety is our top priority, and instructors guide children through paddling, popping up, and surfing at their own pace. Lessons include professional photos, so you can focus on the moment while also creating unforgettable memories of your children’s first waves.

Hike in the park
in Iao Valley
The Iao Needle is a 2,250-foot tall rock formation surrounded by lush green mountains, in the center of the west half of Maui, 22 miles from Kaanapali Beach. Small admission charge per car. The road into the Iao Valley begins in the center of downtown Wailuku. Take an umbrella, since there is often a light steady drizzle there. Walk along the path from the parking lot. There are great views from the top of the walkway, and a lovely stream to stroll by at the bottom of the walkway. Wear bug repellant for the walk by the stream.

See a different beach
every day
All beaches in Hawaii are public. Try out several beaches while you are on Maui. Each beach is different and each beach is beautiful. On West Maui (Lahaina side) I suggest Kaanapali, Kapalua, Olowalu (Mile Marker 14). On the south side (Kihei-Wailea) I suggest Kamaole III, Keawakapu, Big Beach. Going to the beach is the most popular of the free things to do in Maui with kids.
