Kamaole Beach Parks, Kihei, Maui
There are three Kamaole Beaches in Kihei, on the sunny south side of Maui. These Kamaole beach parks are officially called Kamaole Park I, Kamaole Park II and Kamaole Park III. But Maui regulars refer to these beaches and their adjacent parks by their nicknames, Kam 1, Kam 2, and Kam 3. Technically, they are each spelled with a Hawaiian okina, which looks like an apostrophe, like this: Kama’ole.
The three Kamaole beaches are numbered from north to south. They are all in the south half of Kihei, south of the Azeka shopping centers and Kalama Park, but north of Wailea. The Dolphin Center and Rainbow Mall are two shopping centers across the street from Kam 1 and Kam 2.
Kam 1 has the largest beach. But Kam 3 has the largest park, with a beautiful grassy area for relaxing, picnicking, and people-watching. There are picnic tables, restrooms, and outdoor showers in the parks beside each beach. Each of the three parks has a free parking lot or adjacent free street parking.
Directly across the street from the Kamaole Beaches are several Kihei condos, including Maui Vista, Maui Coast, Kihei Akahi, Maui Banyan, Kamaole Sands, Hale Kamaole, Maui Kamaole, and Maui Hill. Condos on or adjacent to the Kamaole beaches (not across the street like the others) include Royal Mauian and Mana Kai. Click the links in this paragraph for details and photos of those condos. For photos and information about 40 other beaches on Maui, there is a large page called “Photo Beach Guide” included free with the “Hana CD Guide” that you can only buy in the booth at the Shell gas station on Dairy Road in Kahului.
