Hilton Maui Hotel
There is no current Hilton Maui Hotel, but there are three related hotels.
- Hilton Maui is presently building a new Hilton Grand Vacations HGV timeshare property to be called Maui Bay Villas, in Kihei, at the former location of the Maui Lu hotel. This is in the northern part of Kihei, at 575 South Kihei Road. As of 2019, they were starting construction, and they said that the first of three phases of this new Hilton timeshare will open in 2021. See the site plan photo near the bottom of this page (siteplan subject to change). There are several other Hilton timeshares on other Hawaiian islands.
- Many years ago there was a Hilton Maui on the north end of Kaanapali Beach. That building is now an older hotel and condo called Maui Kaanapali Villas. See the two photos in the right column below, for pictures of this when it was the Maui Hilton.
- The Grand Wailea Resort on Maui is part of the Waldorf Astoria Collection. This is one of the Hilton brands, so Hilton HHonors points can be used to stay at the Grand Wailea.
There are other major brand-name big resort hotels on Maui, including the Hyatt, Marriott, Westin, Sheraton, Fairmont, Four Seasons, and Ritz Carlton. Scroll down this page for individual links to pages with more information and photos of each of those Maui hotels.
Years ago, I used to think that there had never been a Hilton Maui hotel. Then some old friends came to visit me in Maui and told me that they stayed at the Hilton on Maui on their honeymoon in 1971. They didn’t remember exactly where it was. One day I was walking with them in the Kaanapali Beach area, when the friend said to me, “There it is! That’s the Hilton that we stayed at on our honeymoon.” The building he was pointing to was the Maui Kaanapali Villas, which is now partly hotel rooms and partly condo rooms. We found an old bartender who had worked there since the building was constructed in the 1960’s, and he confirmed that it was the Maui Hilton when he started working there.
