Sheraton Maui Resort Hotel
Sheraton Maui Resort on Kaanapali Beach
The Sheraton Maui is at Black Rock, the famous volcanic hill at the north end of Kaanapali Beach. This location provides a cove where the water is shallower and calmer than in other places, so it’s the best snorkeling spot in Kaanapali. It is also within walking distance of other Kaanapali Resort hotels, restaurants, and shopping. You can phone the Sheraton at 808-661-0031.
The Sheraton was completely rebuilt (not just remodeled) in 1996, so it’s the newest hotel on the main section of Kaanapali Beach. It has several large pools, including a children’s play pool and water slides. There’s a torch lighting ceremony at sunset each evening, featuring a diver jumping off the end of Black Rock into the ocean. The best things about the Sheraton are its location on the best part of Kaanapali Beach, and some of its more expensive rooms being on top of Black Rock with great views.
The 510 rooms at the Sheraton Maui are spread out over six buildings. Room sizes are variable (320 to 420 square feet), with the smallest rooms having only an armoire instead of a closet and having very small lanais. But the larger rooms do have closets and good-size lanais. And the suites are much larger, at 665 to 1600 square feet.
You can get 35% off the Rack Rate at the Sheraton by joining Starwood Preferred Guest (free) at spg.com. But you still need to compare, because sometimes you can get an even bigger discount by shopping around and asking about specials and discounts. And the Sheraton Maui tacks on extra charges, like a high per-night “Resort Fee” or high valet parking fees or steep charges to put a rollaway bed in your room, charges for some activities, charges for cabanas, beach chairs, and umbrellas.
The Sheraton Luau is phenomenal! There are so many parts of it that make it great: sunset on the water, music, chant, hula, fire dancing, and incredible food. See the video below for more.

For someplace a little quieter than the Hyatt or Westin or Marriott, the Sheraton Maui Resort is a good choice. See my reviews and photos of other hotels on this side of Maui at West Maui hotels.
