A new Maui app for Android or iPhone is free, unlike some other Maui apps. This app, called West Maui Guide, will help you see the top sights as you drive around on Maui. It presently covers sights all the way around the west half of Maui, not only the west side coast, but also the parts of central Maui that are on the west side. Other parts of Maui will be added to this app in the future.
Once you install this app on your smart-phone, it will use GPS to know where you are driving on Maui. When you are close to one of the 19 sights on the app, it will pop up and tell you about that sight, with both audio and text, plus a photo. This is a great way for you to discover parts of Maui that you might otherwise miss.
Sights included in the Maui app are Papawai Whale Viewpoint, Papalaua Park, Banyan Tree Park,, Baldwin House in Lahaina, Giant Buddha and Beach Cemetery, Kaanapali Beach, Kahekili Beach Park, Napili Beach, Kapalua Beach, Kapalua Coastal Trail, Dragon’s Teeth, Fleming Beach Park, Honolua Bay, Nakahele Blowhole, Olivine Pools, Kaukini Gallery, and Iao Valley. There are also segments with an introduction and general information about West Maui.
The sights on the north edge of the west half of Maui are on a very narrow cliffside road (Route 340), so use extreme caution if you decide to drive in that area.
