Makawao Food Samples, Restaurants, Art Galleries,
and Local Stores Guided Tour
Local Tastes of Maui offers a fun, tasty and informative tour of the town of Makawao, Maui’s old cowboy town at the entrance to Upcountry.
This tour, led by Makawao resident Cindi Weldon, takes a small group on a 2-hour stroll through town. You’ll learn the fascinating history of this part of Maui, see some old photos of the area, and stop frequently for taste samples of a few of the foods available in Makawao restaurants and shops. You’ll go through several art galleries and discover out-of-the way stores you may not have found on your own. During the visit to Hot Island Glass you can usually watch glass blowing in progress.
Typical food samples included on the tour are biscuits at Casanova Deli, stick donuts at T Komodo Bakery, soup and sorbet at Rodeo General Store, hummus and toast with honey lemonade at Makawao Garden Cafe, and tortilla chips with salsa and guacamole at Polli’s Mexican restaurant (all subject to changes based on availability).
Gallery visits and stores generally included on the tour are Maui Hands, Hot Island Glass, Viewpoints, Volcano Spice, Anuhea Flowers, Aloha Cowboy, and Dragon’s Den herbs (all subject to changes based on availability).
At the end of the tour, you will receive a card good for discounts at many of the stores and restaurants you have visited on the tour.
