Enchanted Floral Gardens of Kula
Beautiful Huge Garden of Tropical Flowers and Plants
***Enchanted Floral Gardens of Kula is currently closed. There is no information on a re-open date as of January 2022.***
Enchanted Floral Gardens of Kula re-opened in 2017 after being closed for two years. Then it closed again in 2018. It had a new owner for that year, Jim Andrews, an experienced agricultural architect, who was refurbishing the gardens and adding new features such as tours and live music. But apparently, it was not a successful business.
About Enchanted Floral Gardens Maui
Until its latest closing in 2018, this was the largest of the three main gardens that the public can visit on Maui. On eight acres, it contains a huge collection of 1500 species of flowers, trees, and other plants, many of them labeled. It is at 2505 Kula Highway (Highway 37, near Mile Marker 10) in Kula. Kula is part of Upcountry (the western slope of Haleakala, the east half of Maui). The elevation here is 2500 feet, so it is slightly cooler than at Maui’s beaches. Click for a map that you can zoom in on to see where this is.
The garden was open from 9 AM to 5 PM and closed on Monday. It takes about an hour to walk around on the self-guided tour to see it all. You could also buy breakfast or lunch at their gift shop and cafe, to eat at picnic tables near the entrance. The cafe has coffee, pastries, salads, sandwiches, and local fruits and produce grown on Maui. From some parts of the gardens, you can see beautiful scenic views of Maui’s central valley, Maalaea Bay, and the West Maui Mountains in the distance.
The Enchanted Floral Gardens added several new features in 2017-2018. They had guided tours with lunch, interactive gardening classes, or classes on flower arranging, lei making, hula dance, eatable plants, organic gardening, flower photography, and garden pest control. They have live music on the weekends.
The gardens were available for private events. You could plan your wedding, corporate meeting, social or community events here. They had catering services for your event. There are three gazebos on the grounds, and any of those would make a beautiful wedding ceremony location.
