Pineapple Grill Maui

What was once Pineapple Grill is now an event space for private functions

Pineapple Grill was the restaurant in the golf clubhouse of the Bay Course in Kapalua. It’s at 200 Kapalua Drive. In December of 2018, it converted from a regular restaurant into a place that only books big events, meetings, weddings, and similar private functions.

Before it changed into a private-events-only venue, Pineapple Grill menus at both lunch and dinner were composed of innovative preparations of seafood and meats. The menu and the food improved greatly when new owners and a new chef came to this restaurant in 2016. Some of my favorite items on the lunch menu were the correctly named “Maui’s Best Baked Mac and Cheese,” and the “Roasted Brussels Sprouts.” (I didn’t even like brussels sprouts until I tasted this delicious preparation.)

The crab cakes appetizer was also excellent and big enough to be an entree. There were also several very good sandwiches for lunch, especially the BBQ Pulled Pork. For dinner, you could get the same mac & cheese and the same brussels sprouts as at lunch, but instead of the lunch sandwiches, the dinner menu featured several steaks and fish preparations, plus pork chops, chicken, and pasta. For dessert, I loved both the pineapple upside-down cake and the chocolate peanut butter s’mores.

The large picture windows overlook the golf course, with beautiful views of the hills and ocean in the distance.
