One of Maui’s most talented artists is Sherri Reeve. She has her own gallery at 3669 Baldwin Avenue in Makawao. Phone 808-572-8931.
In Sherri’s gallery and gift shop you can see or buy her beautiful watercolor paintings of flowers, trees, whales, turtles and more in all sizes, framed or unframed, on canvas or prints or metal. But there’s much more. She also has beautiful shirts, notecards, greeting cards, placemats, clothing, coffee mugs, calendars, iPhone covers, playing cards, hot pads, table decorations, coasters, tiles, trays, soaps, and screensavers, all decorated with her paintings. My favorites are her artwork on metal. My wife’s favorites are her art on t-shirts.
Sherri is often working in the gallery herself. She is warm and friendly and loves to meet and chat with her customers. She will also gladly sign or personalize anything you buy there. Her daughter Hailey is also a talented artist whom you can meet in the gallery.
Sherri was born in California in 1963, and moved with her family to Oahu when she was six years old. She has been drawing since she was a child. She worked as department store display coordinator, learned graphic and interior design, and became a graphic artist, moving to Boston in 1985. She designed ads that appeared in major newspapers. She showed her work at the New York Art Expo in 1988 and attracted national publishers. She moved to Maui in 1989, and her work sold in art galleries in Lahaina from 1990 to 1997. Finally in 1997 she opened her own gallery in Makawao. Here she offers what none of Maui’s many other artists or galleries offer: the one place where you can see and buy Sherri’s own unique watercolor paintings in a huge variety of forms, originals and copies, on canvas, paper, metal, clothing, and many inexpensive household objects.
