Honokowai Okazuya and Deli
The Honokowai Okazuya is Maui's best and most delicious
food bargain. It's at 3600 Lower Honoapiilani Road, in the small strip
shopping center that also contains AAAAA Rent-A-Space and a Pizza Hut, very
close to Star Market and Kaanapali Shores condo (about 8
minutes north of Kaanapali Beach). Phone 808-665-0512.
The Honokowai Okazuya & Deli was sold by the original
owner (John McKivor) in 2006. The new owner is Robert. He
kept most of the same menu and the same recipes,
so the food is just as good. The original chef-owner of the Honokowai Okazuya was formerly a
chef at Mama's Fish House. That's why the food here is as good as the
food at Maui's best restaurants. But this is just a tiny carry-out
place, so the prices are among the lowest on the whole west side of Maui.
There are just a few counter seats in the restaurant, and
a couple small tables out front, so most people use the Okazuya as a
take-out place, and bring the food back to eat in their condo or hotel room.
Your food comes in styrofoam containers with plastic forks and knives.
But wow, is that food ever yummy!
The menu is the same at lunch and dinner (open 10 AM to
9 PM, closed Sundays). There are meat or
fish or vegetarian entrees, salads, deli sandwiches and pasta. See

Okazuya is a Japanese word combining okazu (side dishes served with
rice) + ya (small storefront).
If you want to eat in your condo but you don't want to
cook, you can't beat the food and prices here.
