Pioneer Inn The Pioneer Inn Grill & Bar is a casual restaurant on the harbor side of the Pioneer Inn in Lahaina. It's across Hotel Street from the Banyan Tree, at 658 Wharf Street. Phone 808-270-4858. Pioneer Inn was the first hotel built on the west half of Maui in 1901. There were no other hotels on West Maui until the first hotel in Kaanapali opened in 1962. The Pioneer Inn restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and is much less expensive than the fancier Lahaina restaurants. Many seats have views of the boats in Lahaina harbor, and of the tourists walking to and from the harbor and the banyan tree. This is the place for a good casual meal in the heart of Lahaina town.
