Tropical Gardens and Export Plant Nursery in Central Maui

The Tropical Gardens CLOSED to public tours in 2014.  They now only do online business.

You didn’t have to drive the Road to Hana, or even go all the way to Upcountry, to see large beautiful gardens, when this garden used to be open to the public before mid-2014.  Tropical Gardens of Maui is located just a few minutes’ drive from the city of Wailuku, in Iao Valley.  It is at 200 Iao Valley Road, phone 808-244-3085.  Here’s a map you can zoom in on to see where this is.

Since 1987, this 4-acre garden has been full of lush plants and flowers, from tropical climates around the world.  For a small admission fee, you could take a self-guided 30 to 45-minute walking tour.  They gave you a brochure with information about the plants, and many of the plants are labeled in the garden.  It’s a beautiful peaceful quiet uncrowded place, away from the touristy resorts and shops.  They also have plants available for sale and approved for you to take with you or to ship back to the mainland.

The Tropical Gardens of Maui were owned and maintained with Aloha by Bernie and Andy (Harry) Graham, and their family.
