The Whaler Condos on
Kaanapali Beach The Whaler has a central location on Kaanapali Beach, my favorite Maui location. It is next door to Whalers Village shopping center, and in easy walking distance of resort hotels, restaurants, snorkeling and all beach activities. Phone 808-661-4861. The Whaler is a condo building, not a hotel. So like all condos, its advantages are larger rooms and a complete kitchen, and its disadvantages are less elaborate pools and grounds than a resort hotel. There are no shops or restaurants in the building, but it is just a couple minutes walk from the numerous shops and restaurants in the Whalers Village shopping center. The Whaler's 360 condos (in two 12-story buildings) include studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom (and a few three-bedroom) units. Built in 1976. Each unit is individually owned, so furnishings vary widely and some units are kept up better than others. All units are fully air conditioned, unlike many of Maui's less expensive condos. Most rentals are managed by Aston (formerly called ResortQuest), so you may hear this called the Aston Whaler. Click for a discount price at the Whaler condos for your desired travel dates. For a reasonably priced condo in the middle of activity-filled Kaanapali, the Whaler is a very good choice. See photos below. |
