The Whaler Condos on
Kaanapali BeachThe Whaler has a
central location on Kaanapali Beach, my favorite Maui location. It is
next door to Whalers Village shopping center, and in easy walking distance
of resort hotels, restaurants, snorkeling and all beach
activities.
The Whaler is a condo building, not a hotel. So
like all condos, its advantages are larger rooms and a complete kitchen, and
its disadvantages are less elaboarate pools and grounds than a resort hotel.
There are no shops or restaurants in the building, but it is just a couple
minutes walk from the numerous shops and restaurants in the Whalers Village
shopping center.
The Whaler's 360 condos (in two 12-story buildings)
include studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom (and a few three-bedroom)
units. Built in 1976. Each unit is individually owned, so furnishings vary widely and
some units are kept up better than others. All units are fully air
conditioned, unlike many of Maui's less expensive condos.
