Maui Prince Hotel has changed ownership and is now the Makena Beach and
Golf Resort The Makena Beach and Golf Resort was until 2009 called the Maui Prince Hotel. It is a few miles south of the other major resort hotels in Wailea. Because of its isolated location and somewhat smaller size, it is quieter than the Grand and the other big Wailea hotels. But that location also means that it is a longer drive to get from the Makena Beach to shopping, restaurants and sightseeing. Phone the Makena Beach Hotel at 808-874-1111. All rooms at the Makena Beach Hotel (former Maui Prince Hotel) have at least a partial ocean view. Room prices are a little less than at most other major South Maui hotels (Grand Wailea, Four Seasons, Fairmont). The two Makena golf courses (North and South) are nearby. Two excellent restaurants in the Makena Beach Hotel are Molokini Bar & Grill and Hakone. There's also a luau two nights per week. The fine-dining restaurant is no longer called the Prince Court, but it still has Maui's most lavish (and expensive) buffet brunch on Sundays. Click for a discount price at the Makena Beach and Golf Resort for your desired travel dates. If you would like an out-of-the-way location on the sunny south side of Maui, then the Makena Beach and Golf Resort (formerly called the Maui Prince) is a good choice. See photos below. |
