Mama's Fish House

Mama's is one of Maui's most famous restaurants. It's on the north shore, just outside of the town of Paia, on the Hana Highway, at 799 Poho Place. Phone 808-579-8488.

Mama's restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. It is in a beautiful oceanfront setting, but it is set back a ways from the ocean, so the tables far back inside the restaurant do not have much of a view of the ocean. Mama's has been known for many years for its wonderful fresh fish preparations. But serving sizes are not as large as at many of Maui's other fine-dining restaurants, and prices at Mama's are among the highest on Maui. It takes about an hour to drive to Mama's from the main Maui resort areas of Kaanapali and Wailea.

In my opinion, Mama's has excellent food, but is not worth the high prices and long travel distance, when there are other Maui restaurants that have food just as good and are closer to the resorts.
