About Frida’s Beach House Maui
Frida’s is the third restaurant owned and run by Maui chef Mark Ellman and is adjacent to his other two restaurants, Mala and Honu. But this one has a completely different style of food than the other two. It features “authentic and eclectic Mexican cuisine as well as some inspired dishes from Central and South America.” It’s open for lunch and dinner every day. The location right on the ocean gives diners terrific views at any time, especially at sunset.
Mexican food is usually not my favorite, but I do love the tastes and variety and presentations at Frida’s. There are all the usual dishes you expect to find at a Mexican restaurant, but also many more that I was not familiar with. The over 40 food items on the menu include tacos, enchiladas, sopes, tostadas, quesadillas, and rice & beans. But there are also fish zarandeado, grilled Spanish octopus, rib eye mojo de ajo, ceviche tostada with avocado, zucchini michoacan, ahi albondigas soup, and many more things that were new to me, and delicious.
