Fishing from a Boat off MauiYou can go sport fishing from a boat off of Maui all year around.Your first decision is whether to charter a boat for just your own group (family or friends), or whether to share a boat with people you don't know. Each fishing boat holds about six people (plus the crew), and most boats require a minimum of four people to book a fishing excursion. Trips last most of the day (6 to 8 hours). Boats with more amenities (speed, air conditioning, two bathrooms, TV) cost more. Reservations are necessary. Big fish you may catch off the shores of Maui include marlin, tuna, wahoo, and mahi-mahi. Smaller fish you may catch if you choose shallow water bottom fishing (instead of deep sea fishing) include barracuda, trigger fish, grey snapper and others. See below for a discussion of some of the companies offering fishing boats from Maui. |
