Kamaole Beach Parks, Kihei,
Maui
There are three Kamaole Beach Parks in Kihei, on
the sunny south side of Maui. They are officially called Kamaole Park
I, Kamaole Park II and Kamaole Park III. But Maui regulars refer to
these beaches and their adjacent parks by their nicknames, Kam 1,
Kam 2 and Kam 3. Technically, they are each spelled with a
Hawaiian okina, which looks like an apostophe, like this: Kama'ole.
The three Kamaole beaches are numbered from north to
south. They are all in the south half of Kihei, south of the Azeka
shopping centers and Kalama Park, but north of Wailea. The Dolphin
Center and Rainbow Mall are two shopping centers across the street from Kam
1 and Kam 2.
Kam 1 has the largest beach. But Kam 3 has the
largest park, with a beautiful grassy area for relaxing, picnicing and
people-watching. There are pinic tables, restrooms and outdoor showers
in the parks beside each beach. Each of the three parks has a free
parking lot or adjacent free street parking.
Directly across the street from the Kamaole Beachs are
several Kihei condos, including Maui Vista, Maui Coast,
Kihei Akahi,
Maui
Banyan, Kamaole Sands,
Hale Kamaole, Maui Kamaole and
Maui Hill. Condos on or
adjacent to the Kamaole beaches (not across the street like the others)
include Royal Mauian and
Mana Kai. Click the links in
