Pioneer Inn Hotel in Lahaina Pioneer Inn is at 658 Wharf Street, on the ocean side of Front Street, in the middle of Lahaina. Phone 808-661-3636. Pioneer Inn is the oldest hotel on Maui. It was built in 1901, but has been extensively remodeled since then. This historic hotel is now operated by Best Western. It is located at Lahaina Harbor marina, adjacent to the famous Lahaina Banyan Tree. It's in easy walking distance of all Lahaina sights, including shops, restaurants, historic buildings, and boat excursions. It is on a rocky section of ocean-front, a few blocks from any beach. There are only 34 rooms, all on the second floor, accessible by stairway. Rooms are air conditioned, but they are small. A good casual restaurant and several shops are in the building. Most other hotels with a "Lahaina" address are not really in the town of Lahaina, but are a few miles north in resort and condo areas. The Pioneer Inn is one of the very few hotels actually in town. If you want to stay inside Lahaina Town rather than on a beach, and if you don't mind an older hotel with small rooms, then the Pioneer Inn provides you a very good location from which you can walk all over Lahaina.
