Maui Kaanapali Villas
Maui Kaanapali Villas is about half a mile north of the
Black Rock (north) end of Kaanapali Beach. It is possible to walk from
here to the resorts, restaurants and shops of the main Kaanapali Beach area,
but it is a long walk and you have to go out of the way to get around the
Sheraton Hotel.
Maui Kaanapali Villas has 266 rooms, most of which are
condos with complete kitchens. Built in 1963. There are studios, one-bedroom and
two-bedroom units. The building also has a few hotel rooms (without
kitchens). There is one 6-story main building (the Aloha Tower) and
four 2-story surrounding buildings. Only the rooms on the first and
second floor have lanais big enough for chairs, while the rooms on the third
floor and above have very narrow lanais with just enough room for you to
stand. Most rooms do not have any view of the ocean. Like all
Maui condos, each unit is individually owned, so decor and upkeep can vary.
All units are air conditioned. Most rentals are handled by
ResortQuest (formerly called Aston).
Castaway is a very good and reasonably-priced
restaurant on the ocean, near the pool.
For a less expensive (though less luxurious)
alternative to the Kaanapali Alii or Whaler, still fairly close to Kaanapali
Beach, consider Maui Kaanapali Villas.
