Hotel Wailea (formerly called Diamond Hawaii Resort in Wailea) Hotel Wailea is a condo uphill, away from the beaches, in Wailea. It's at 555 Kaukahi Street, phone 808-874-0500. Aqua Hotels and Resorts now manages the Hotel Wailea. Although it was called Diamond Hawaii Resort until 2009, I don't think of this condo complex as a true resort. It is uphill, in an area of privately owned condos, far from any beach. There are 72 units, each a 900-square-foot 1-bedroom condo with a kitchenette. The units are in 18 2-story buildings, with 4 units per building. Built in 1990. The central building (which has no condo units) contains the check-in desk, a small exercise room, and two upscale restaurants. The restaurants are Capische (Italian) and Taiko (Japanese).
